Public Relations Student Society of America
❋ Introduction
As Finance Committee Lead for PRSSA at the University of Oregon, I manage the financial strategy and operations that keep our 40+ member chapter thriving. Working directly under the Finance Director, I handle budgeting, funding requests, and financial reporting to ensure our professional development tours, signature events, and agency operations remain sustainable while delivering maximum value to members.
Key Responsibilities & Impact
Collaborated with the executive board and finance director to develop funding requests supporting chapter operations and professional-development opportunities.
Prepared and refined funding proposals and presentations for ASUO, explaining budget priorities, member benefits, and the value of proposed spending.
Helped secure a $14,695 operating budget for the 2026–2027 academic year through collaborative proposal development and stakeholder communication.
Translated budget information into clear, persuasive messaging connecting funding needs with the chapter’s professional-development goals.
This role strengthened my financial communications skills by giving me experience explaining resource allocation, supporting funding decisions, and communicating with university stakeholders, skills I am eager to build on in financial communications and investor relations.
Professional Development Tours We Went On in 2025-26
After successfully securing funding through ASUO, we brought our club to Portland and San Francisco for a series of professional networking events. Members gained firsthand exposure to industry professionals, building meaningful connections and insight into career paths within our field.
